Events
2024 was an exciting year for the 14th Annual Literary Festival. The events ran from October 17th – 19th and were held at the Town of Brome Lake Community Centre. The Thursday evening event, hosted by Brome Lake Books, continues to grow with more and more people showing up to support our local authors.
The weekend events were kicked off on Friday night with a powerful presentation on the impact of climate change by Pulitzer nominated author, John Vaillant. Saturday was a full day with the spoken word poets; Tawhida Tanya Evanson and Sarah Yi-Mei Tsiang, followed by Indigenous author, Amanda Peters speaking about her first novel. The afternoon ended with a sellout crowd, drawn from far and wide, to hear Louise Penny interview British mystery sensation, Anne Cleeves. The festival’s closing event featured Ronald Deibert, the founder and director of the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto. What a weekend!
As in previous years, we were fortunate to have some of our authors address students at Knowlton Academy and Massey Vanier High School. Thanks to John Vaillant and Lorna Schultz Nicholson.
Community Support
The Knowlton Literary Festival would like to acknowledge the Ville de Lac Brome, the Knowlton Lion’s Club, ELAN, Brome Lake Books, the Townshipper’s Association and all private donors who have contributed so generously to the Festival.
Board Members, volunteers and Louise Penny
Of course, none of this would be possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of our board members and volunteers. Special recognition goes out to our Honorary Patron, Louise Penny. Words cannot express our gratitude.
