Keeper of stories, spells, bees and dreams.

Ami McKay is a novelist, memoirist, playwright. Keeper of stories, spells, bees and dreams. Born and raised in Indiana, Ami now lives in Nova Scotia.
Ami's debut novel,
The Birth House was a # 1 bestseller in Canada, winner of three CBA Libris Awards, nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, and a book club
favourite around the world. While writing her new novel, The
Witches of New York, she discovered several women in her family tree who were accused and tried for witchcraft. Her novella, Half Spent Was the Night
is a magical follow-up in the tradition of Victorian winter tales to her mesmerizing bestseller,
The Witches of New York.
Her novels are inspired by tales of strong women through history and have empowered readers to own their stories, and to celebrate the subtle moments of magic that life has to offer – “They are there,” she promises, “you just need to look for them.”
